    Akbar Linggaprana is a painter, writer, and retired Indonesian Air Force officer, born in Yogyakarta on 16 October 1956. He studied art at SMSR “SSRI” and STSRI “ASRI” Yogyakarta, majoring in painting. After joining the Air Force in 1981, he continued to create and exhibit artworks, developing a practice that blends military discipline with personal artistic expression. Alongside painting, he has written books, biographies, and articles. In 2014, he served as Expert Staff to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force in science and technology, and later assisted Indonesia’s 6th President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in publication and documentation.

    Since retiring in 2015, he has focused fully on art, exhibiting both in Indonesia and internationally, while also contributing as a speaker, moderator, and juror. His exhibitions include the international Imago Mundi project, Taman Ismail Marzuki, and the National Gallery of Indonesia. In 2025, he joined the SBY Art Community’s “Art for Peace and A Better Future,” conveying messages of peace and sustainability through his work.
